Floating Loan and Member Service Officer
Afena Federal Credit Union in Marion, Indiana is seeking a Floating Loan and Member Service Officer to join our team. This position combines responsibilities in loan origination, underwriting, account opening, and member services, with the flexibility to perform teller functions and provide branch support as needed. This role also involves processing Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs) internally and partnering with a third-party vendor for first mortgages. As a floating position, this role will travel between branches to ensure smooth operations and maintain a positive member experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Loan Officer and Mortgage Duties:
- Conduct loan interviews, evaluate creditworthiness, and underwrite consumer loans in accordance with credit union policies.
- Process and manage Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs), ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to support members applying for first mortgages, providing guidance throughout the process.
- Educate members about loan options, rates, terms, and conditions to assist them in making informed decisions.
- Ensure all loan documentation is accurate and complies with regulatory requirements.
- Member Services Duties:
- Open new accounts, including savings, checking, and certificates, and provide guidance on credit union products and services.
- Assist members with account inquiries, transaction requests, and resolving concerns.
- Provide financial counseling and identify opportunities to cross-sell additional products or services.
- Teller and Operational Support Duties:
- Process member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and payments, with accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist in balancing cash drawers and ensuring proper cash handling procedures.
- Step in as needed to support branch operations, including acting as a branch manager when required.
- Branch Coverage and Floating Duties:
- Travel between branches as scheduled to provide staffing support.
- Adapt to varied roles depending on the needs of the branch, including serving as a teller, loan officer, or member service representative.
- Contribute to branch success by supporting team efforts and maintaining a positive member experience.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in lending, member services, and/or teller functions in a financial institution is preferred.
- Knowledge of consumer loan products, including Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs), and an understanding of mortgage processes.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a member-focused approach to service.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in multiple roles and locations as needed.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with financial software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in finance or business is a plus.
- Deliver outstanding service to members while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all transactions and processes.
- Exhibit flexibility and a willingness to learn new responsibilities to support branch needs.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and contribute to a positive team environment across all branches.
- Ensure compliance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
